The Center is currently looking for a full-time Social Media Organizer. The preferred location for this position is Tucson, Ariz., Oakland, Calif.; or Portland, Ore.

 

General position overview:

The Center for Biological Diversity seeks a talented, experienced and hard-driving Social Media Organizer to maintain and grow our social media presence and community of activists and supporters. The Organizer will develop original content, drive social media conversations and engagement, and find creative ways to engage our supporters and attract new activists and supporters. The Organizer will also help increase web traffic and engagement metrics aligned with broader online strategies. The Social Media Organizer is responsible for helping develop and ultimately execute the Center's social media strategy with the support of other members of the communications team. The position is part of the Center's Communications program and reports to the Digital Director. 

Main duties:

  • Manage the Center's social media accounts and content calendar to engage our supporters; attract new members; and promote the organization's work, campaigns and values.
  • Work with the Digital and Online Fundraising Directors to develop acquisition campaigns through social channels. Develop landing pages to convert more followers into donors and activists.
  • Deeply dive into web and social analytics for the Center's online communities. Research audience preferences and discover current trends. Work with the digital and online fundraising directors to set goals for campaign efforts.
  • Track, analyze and summarize data to report results and effectiveness of social media efforts. Make recommendations for future adjustments/changes for greater effectiveness.
  • Provide excellent service to our supporters, responding to questions and comments, and engaging supporters to help them understand our mission and the issues we work on.
  • Monitor social media and web for media stories or breaking news related to the Center's issues and campaigns, mentions of the Center, and feedback from community members.
  • Identify creative campaign opportunities to engage and mobilize the Center's activist base both online and offline.
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends and tools and seek out new opportunities in emerging social media platforms.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Two to four years of experience managing social media channels for an organization.
  • A proven track record of growing and enhancing social media profiles and integrating with campaigns and organizational goals.
  • A passion for the Center's mission and using social media to protect endangered species.
  • Self-identification as an avid user of popular social media platforms with knowledge of trends, key words, etc.
  • Experience with social media paid acquisition efforts, including advertising through Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
  • A testing and analytics mindset. Willingness to experiment, review and adjust tactics based on learnings.
  • Experience in implementing a social media strategy for a nonprofit organization desired.
  • Excellent time-management skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, strong networking skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and the capacity for close attention to detail.
  • Strong photo editing skills required. Video editing skills a big plus.
  • Experience working with remote teams and coordinating efforts.
  • A passion for activating people to save wildlife and protect wild places, the climate and planet.
